Our B & B is located in Tuscany,
one of the most beautiful regions in Italy, famous throughout the world for its famous art cities such as Florence, Siena, Pisa, and Arezzo.
A medieval city surrounded by hills of vineyards and olive groves, it rises in the center of four valleys rich in history and culture in addition to high quality agricultural food products. Keep in mind the famous Antiques Fair held in the streets of the historic center every first Sunday of the month and the Saturday before.
There are two museums, an archeology museum housed in a Olivetan convent rising from a Roman amphitheatre and the rich medieval museum, in addition to many artistic monuments, including the works of Piero della Francesca, Giorgio Vasari and Andrea della Robbia, to mention a few. It should not be forgotten that here Roberto Benigni filmed some scenes of his masterwork "Life is beautiful".
Cortona rises from the side of a steep hill within the Val di Chiana and is dominated by Lake Trasimeno.
Among the most significant monuments in Cortona, we cite the Duomo, the Chiesa di Santa Maria Nuova, the Chiesa di San Francesco, the Chiesa di San Nicolò, the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita, the Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca (Etruscan Academy Museum), the Museo Diocesano (Diocesan Museum), the Fortezza del Girifalco (Fortress of the Girafalco), the Palazzo Comunale and the Palazzo Fierli-Petrella.
The city of Cortona was the birthplace of Renaissance artist Luca Signorelli (1445-1523). Among the many events taking place periodically in Cortona, we point out here the National Sale and Show of Antique Furniture held every year in the month of September.
Elegant and luminous, Florence stretches along the banks of the Arno, crowned by gently rounded hills. Unique in the world for the monumental grandiosity of its buildings and the refined elegance of the urban setting, Florence keeps intact the harmonious grace of the Renaissance masters.
Full of monuments, historic and artistic buildings, galleries, and museums, Florence expresses all the splendor of its ancient civilization. Great acclaim has also been brought by the activities of artisans, gastronomy, with all the delicious dishes of Tuscan cuisine, and cultural and folkloristic events (from the Scoppio del Carro – explosion of the cart - to Maggio Musicale – Musical May-, from the Fiera degli Uccelli – Bird Fair - to the Festival Cinematografico dei Popoli- People’s Cinematic Festival). Florence is an obligatory stop both for Italians and for foreigners who visit Tuscany.
With the inimitable fascination of narrow streets winding together, studded with towers and austere palazzos, Siena preserves intact its medieval heart enclosed by powerful walls. It is set in the frame of a splendid territory, three hills covered by vineyards and olive groves, farmhouses, scattered villages, castles, and parish churches spread throughout the lovely countryside of the Chianti. The entire city is one big museum, with its attractive country plaza dominated by the tower of the Mangia. The famous Palio of Siena in the city landscape takes place in the plaza twice a year.
